Climate Change And Global Warming - 1022 Words

What = Climate Change Who = Emma, Aoife, Julia, Rachael, Mariah and Cà ©line What is it? Climate Change is a change in the demographic distribution of weather patterns, and related change in oceans, land surfaces and ice sheets, happening over time scales of decades or longer. It’s the world’s greatest threat. Climate change is the change in temperature over a period of time. It involves the greenhouse effect and global warming. Where is it? It is an issue affecting everyone everywhere. Climate change exists within the Earth’s atmosphere, where temperatures are slowly rising. The Top Ten countries affected the most by Climate Change are generally countries with a struggling economy. Uganda, The Alps, The Northwest Passage,†¦show more content†¦Greenhouse Gas Emissions: What are the effects of it being there? Negative -The oceans have heated, mainly on its surface. -The rate of increase of the global sea level has doubled the rate of the last century in the last 10 years. -Expansion of greenhouse gases in the air will warm the oceans and make them more acidic. -Species with low adaptability/mobility will be extinct. -Ecosystems will change as new species of animals and plants develop or vanish. -Soil-moisture levels are predicted to fall which directly influence frogs, skinks, and soil invertebrates, and so, the birds that feed on these small animals. Positive -The huge advantage from climate change comes from carbon dioxide itself. The raw material from which plants make carbohydrates and thence proteins and fats. -For years scientists have been fast to declare that global warming will lead to more very bad storms and a rise in cyclones. BUT, a brand new study in the journal Geophysical Research Letters suggests that it might be actually be the opposite. Negative Effects: Sea levels are rising due to oceans warming and expanding, which means that there will be less land surface. Glaciers melting have a serious impact on the environment. Warmer temperature mean that disease is spread quicker as bacteria multiplies more rapidly in warmer temperatures. More heat-related health risks. Heat changes ecosystems. Species will have to adapt to new conditions or migrate. There will be less diversity
